Meet Fedora, a documented Dreamer at risk of self-deportation.

John,

We’ve seen what happens when we fail to humanize the immigration debate. Human lives get turned into statistics, misinformation runs rampant, and immigrants’ lives are put at stake.

But there’s still hope. Together, we can rewrite that narrative and ensure that immigrant voices are heard.

With your help, the American Immigration Council can break through the noise by telling stories of real people, impacted by real immigration policies.

Earlier this year, over 1,000 people joined our webinar to hear the story of Fedora Castelino and her family. Fedora is part of a group of 250,000 “Documented Dreamers”— children of high-skilled immigrants who are at risk of having to self-deport when they turn 21.

Fedora grew up in the U.S. and is now a pre-med student with dreams of serving in the U.S. Army. But at 20, she faces the heartbreaking reality of self-deportation in a matter of months. Her father was recruited by a U.S. company and moved his family to America when Fedora was five. Now, they must wrestle with the consequences of an obscure policy that may send Fedora away from her family and home.

It’s crucial to highlight stories like Fedora’s because they show the personal impact of immigration policies, revealing the struggles behind the headlines. Especially at a time when mass deportations may become a reality in 2025, many like Fedora are uncertain about their future. These stories foster empathy, challenge misinformation, and inspire real change. Will you help us uplift all immigrant voices tomorrow on Giving Tuesday?

We need to continue telling these stories so America doesn’t lose sight of what’s behind the immigration debate. Become a monthly donor so we can continue uplifting immigrant voices.

Sincerely,

Jeremy Robbins
