Donald Trump has proposed the creation of a so-called Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and appointed Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy as co-leads.

Trump purports that this agency is meant to “streamline federal operations,” but we can see this power play for what it is: DOGE will enable widespread deregulation, corporate corruption, and diminished government accountability to the people.

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is nothing more than a blatant power grab, and we it’s disaster waiting to happen for the following reasons:

1. Lack of Public Service Experience: Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy have no background in public service. They’re billionaires with shady business practices and dark money connections. Government is about serving the people, not making a profit.
2. Conflicts of Interest: Musk and Ramaswamy both have tight business ties to industries that benefit from lax regulations. If they’re in charge, we could see favoritism toward their interests and big businesses. They’ll prioritize padding their pockets rather than safeguarding public needs.
3. Deregulation Disguised as Efficiency: Donald Trump sees “efficiency” as removing vital protections and regulations. Under his leadership, Musk and Ramaswamy are sure to slash environmental, labor, and consumer protections.
4. Privatization of Public Services: DOGE might even move to outsource basic government functions to corporations. This would reduce transparency and accountability to taxpayers and increase corporate profits — maybe even benefit Musk and Ramaswamy personally.
5. Threat to Democracy: We believe that the government must be accountable to the people, not to corporate elites. DOGE would erode public trust and prioritize corporate power over our democratic values.
