As you may know, GLAAD was founded in 1985 to protest how the media reported on the AIDS Crisis — and we're still in that fight thanks to advocates like you. GLAAD is fighting misinformation from every angle. We're ending HIV stigma through programs like the Equity in Media and Entertainment Initiative — a pipeline program that addresses the existing gap in equitable representation in entertainment by helping people living with HIV tell their stories. We're briefing dozens of newsrooms and thousands of journalists across the country on LGBTQ issues. And when attacks against our community happen, we're there as soon as we can to work with local partners, the media, and those affected to ensure the reporting is accurate and authentic.
