A PERSONAL NOTE
??
Good morning, friends!
I hope that you had a good Thanksgiving and that the good times are still continuing for you, if you still have guests.
We had a small, quiet holiday at my place and decided we only wanted sides. So everybody brought their favorite holiday side dish, and we dubbed our meal "Sidesgiving."
Also, I'm sorry that I missed Saturday Shenanigans this week. I slept late after the festivities and didn't pull it together.
You may notice that this week's email is in a different format. I decided to make some changes here, too.
After 15 years of covering news (twelve of them on this site), I am finding that the betrayal of Western North Carolina has been incredibly distressing. Obviously, it's far worse for them, and I'm not trying to suggest I was impacted in the same way. But I've never, in my career, wanted so much to take a break from the news as I do right now. So, in the spirit of Saturday Shenanigans, I'm taking the entire weekend to stay away from it. I hope that you guys won't miss the list of articles too much, and I may start that again in a few months, but for now, I just want to chat with you on Sunday mornings.
The cooler weather is slowing down recovery somewhat, which my physical therapist said is to be expected.?? I've got some very cozy socks coming, as well as an electric blanket to try and keep the joints from stiffening as much. I can still get around in my apartment, but it doesn't feel great. I've lost a bit of progress, but I'm still ahead of the game. I guess this will be Year 2 of Winter Hibernation!
I don't know about you, but I sleep so much better in cold weather. There's something about snuggling down under all the warm, cozy blankets that causes me to fall asleep faster and stay asleep longer. As a chronic insomniac, that's one of my favorite parts of winter.
It's hard to believe that it's already December. We'll be getting ready for the holiday here soon, and my daughter has already done some decorating. We're keeping gifts small again this year to be mindful of everyone's budgets. It's not the gifts for me. It's the food, friends, and family, and fortunately, my daughters feel the same way.
Look out for some fantastic deals on Cyber Monday! We're hoping to offer you the things you need for a fraction of the price.
I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
Love,
Daisy

How to Feed Your Family No Matter What [link removed]
Having something to eat isn't guaranteed.
We're facing threats to our food supply from many different angles: supply chain breakdowns, drought, food facilities being ravaged by fires, skyrocketing inflation, and outright shortages. No longer can we live in the comfort of unthreatened abundance. We're learning exactly how delicate the system really is.
Prepping and putting back supplies is incredibly important but what we're seeing now goes beyond that. You have to be able to produce and acquire more food. You have to be able to put back your harvests to eat during the winter. You have to be able to prepare items that once were as convenient as popping open a can or little plastic container.
You need a paperback copy of How to Feed Your Family No Matter What [link removed], our Organic Prepper anthology with ALL of our content about food. You'll get more than 500 pages of content that are all about food when you can't just go to the store and buy whatever you want.
