Green Party 2024 Election Wrap-up
WASHINGTON, DC — The
Green Party of the United States thanked all Green candidates for
public office in 2024, including presidential and vice-presidential
candidates Jill Stein and Butch Ware, for running in a difficult
election year, for representing the Green Party and its values, and
for moving the party forward in its challenge to two-party rule.
The Green Party had ballot lines in 38 states, many of them
attained with the help of the Stein-Ware Campaign . . . . The Green
Party faced ballot access challenges in many states, because of laws
passed by Democratic and Republican officials to privilege their own
candidates and hinder alternative parties and independents . . . .
At least 131 Greens in 23 states ran in the November 5 elections.
Among these, 81 races were for partisan state and federal office, and
50 were for local county, city, school and special offices.
Below is a summary of state and local Green election results . . .
. As of the November 5 elections, at least 153 Greens in 21 states
hold elected office. All-time, U. S. Greens have been elected at least
1,551 times to public office. FULL

Green Party Organizes Two PA County Chapters
The Green Party of Pennsylvania held its
State Committee meeting via Zoom on November 10. There were 22
delegates and 19 non-delegates in attendance from 15 counties. GPPA
Co-chair Theron Gilliland told GREEN STAR, “This is the largest State
Committee meeting that I can remember. I think it bodes well to have
so many attendees who are not delegates because it shows that interest
in the Green Party is growing.” Delegates decided by consensus to
renew the active membership of the Green Party of Delaware County and
the Green Party of Westmoreland County. Delegates also decided by
consensus on their meeting dates for 2025 (see below). On January
5, 2025, there will be a Candidate Forum for those seeking election to
Green Party internal offices. The election of those officers will be
held at the next State Committee meeting on January 12, 2025.

Most Difficult COP29 After the Election of
Trump
The future
president has never hidden his climate skepticism. Global warming is a
“hoax” according to the president-elect who is committed to
relaunching oil extraction in the United States: “I make this promise
to the great American people: I will put an end to the devastating
inflation crisis and I will lower the cost of energy. We’re going to
drill, honey, drill!” FULL

COP29 World Leaders Meet in Baku
Baku is highlighting its own commitments,
although these remain limited as they stand: reducing CO2 emissions by
40% by 2050 and increasing renewable capacities by 30% by 2030. “Since
2015, in nine years, oil production volumes have decreased by 30% from
41 to 29 million tonnes per year,” explains specialist Ilham Shaban of
the Caspian Barrel Oil Research Center in Baku. “In all likelihood, by
2050 Azerbaijan will become the first oil country in the world to stop
its commercial production.” FULL

quality of European waters. 120,000 bodies of surface water, lakes,
