John, I’m Zohran Mamdani, a New York State Assemblymember running to be the first Muslim Mayor of New York City. As a legislator, I understand that local government is where change starts. Just like County Commissioner Allam, I knew that I had to be the one to step up to create this change in New York City.

Like it or not, what happens in New York City affects everyone -- just look at how the current mayor’s scandals have reverberated across the country or how previous mayors have risen in national profile.

In just two terms, I fought for working class New Yorkers in and outside the legislature: hunger striking alongside taxi workers to win transformative debt relief, organizing against ConEd rate hikes and dirty power plants, and delivering more than $100 million to improve subway service and launch a fare-free bus pilot in NYC.

This is going to be a tough race with millions being poured in by big money groups and political elites who want to maintain a system that has worked for them, and only them. Donations from grassroots donors like you will show big money groups that all politicians are NOT for sale.
