BPC in the News

The Trump administration is eager to reopen the economy, but BPC's Dr. Anand Parekh advises that we first need adequate testing capabilities, a decline in new COVID-19 cases, and a health care system that is under capacity. Also in the news is BPC's Bill Hoagland discussing the political ramifications of the White House's plan to provide relief dollars to states and the BPC Food Summit, which explored how the coronavirus has impacted the country's food supply chain.

BPC's Latest Work

During this global health and economic crisis, American consumers have changed their spending habits by spending more on everyday essentials and adopting new brands and behaviors. As Congress considers a fourth stimulus package, policymakers should continue to work with the administration in a bipartisan fashion to require companies of all sizes to extend paid sick leave.

State and local election officials have no choice but to prepare for a different election than they imagined at the beginning of 2020. Whether states have the resources for an all vote-by-mail scheme, or settle for a modified vote-by-mail process, policymakers must act now to provide every voter a safe and secure means of casting a ballot in November.

BPC’s Direct Air Capture Advisory Council released a new white paper making the environmental case for an ambitious, targeted, and diversified program of near-term investment in direct air capture technology as part of a comprehensive strategy for achieving international climate goals over the next several decades.
