On Fox News, the former acting director of ICE said that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has “lost her mind.” Why? Because Pelosi’s next relief bill, the HEROES Act, stipulates that undocumented Americans “engaged in essential critical infrastructure labor or services in the United States” will enter into “a period of deferred action” regarding deportation.
That’s right -- the Democratic leader’s opinion that the United States shouldn’t rush to deport essential undocumented workers is apparently crazy talk to Republicans.
But believe it or not, one Republican supports Pelosi’s relief package -- Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell, who the Washington Post reports “gave a dire warning Wednesday that the U.S. economy could become stuck in a painful multiyear recession if Congress and the White House do not authorize more aid to address the coronavirus pandemic’s economic fallout.”
Pelosi is clearly committed to bringing much-needed relief to vulnerable Americans around the country, regardless of what the Republican men around her think of her actions. But we want to know what you think:
