Double Exposure Film Series

Simultaneities and Solidarities

The film series “Double Exposure” deals with ambiguity, consonances and dissonances and what belongs together in what is different. Films in the December part of the series include: Andreas Veiel's documentary Black Box BRD, Cem Kaya's documentary essay Love, Deutschmark and Death, and Girls/Museums by Shelly Silver–all films in German with English subtitles–streaming now for free via Goethe on Demand.

These Are the Winners

The German Embassy hosted an awards ceremony for the winners of the Kant Essay Competition on November 21, 2024. Ambassador Andreas Michaelis greeted the students and participated in a conversation about the continued impact of the Enlightenment. The Goethe-Institut awarded the winning essayists a study trip to Germany and scholarships to enroll in German courses. Read the award-winning essays in Gegenüber!

This unique event pairs two of life's greatest pleasures: music and chocolate. Savor the rich flavors of chocolates and wine while enjoying a live performance by Sequoia Snyder (a.k.a. REDWOOD) and her band featuring Devron Dennis, Grant Le, and REDWOOD herself. 
Part of the "Music and Chocolate: Tastes & Sounds of Europe series" from the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC) Washington Cluster, this event celebrates the bold, diverse, and surprising layers of European culture, with music and chocolate as your guide.
