Hey there John,
This is Anderson Clayton, chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party. We just defied a red wave to flip two statewide seats, break the Republican supermajority in our state house, and keep our governor’s mansion blue. And — finally — we can declare victory in the closest statewide election in the country: Justice Allison Riggs’ fight to stay on the North Carolina Supreme Court.
Say what you will about Republicans, but they don’t go down easy. Justice Riggs’ opponent called for a recount and then filed over 300 protests with our elections board — challenging 60,000 votes. As they’ve just proven with their brazen, last-minute power grab bills, the North Carolina GOP has few lines they won’t cross to cheat voters out of the future they voted for.
But y’all, we aren’t giving them an inch. When the state finished their first count, Justice Riggs was up by just 625 votes. To defend her margin during the recount, North Carolina Democrats stationed volunteer observers in all 100 counties and built a team of lawyers to answer every damn protest the GOP threw at us — but that ain't cheap.
We need your help to keep up the pace and protect every single vote. And if Jefferson Griffin tries to take this fight to the courtroom, we need to be ready to take him on. Right now I’m staring down a $500,000 budget gap I need to cover to see this program through to the end.
Here’s how you can help me: split a donation between the North Carolina Democrats’ judicial fund and Nida Allam. You’ll help Justice Riggs’ campaign fight for every last vote and you’ll help Nida Allam continue to support folks like her—candidates who take their fight for democracy and justice down to the wire if they’ve got to.
If you've saved your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will go through immediately:
Thanks for your support, folks. We couldn’t do it without you.
