John, every person is taking this tough election news differently. Some grieve, some are angry, some want someone to blame – no one wanted to feel the way we did in 2016 ever again, especially now that we know what lies ahead.
I stared at the screen figuring out how to talk to each of you, to tell you that, whatever you are feeling, I am sad and numb and tired, too.
But then I saw something in our team reports:
Over 600 people signed up to run for office just yesterday.
That’s what’s giving me hope today. More than 600 people woke up (or never went to sleep!), saw the election results, and even in their sadness, said, “I’m in, I’m ready to fight.”
We’re going to be there for those leaders and the 160,000+ others in our candidate pipeline as they consider how they can fight for their communities by running for office. They’re not disengaging, and neither will we.
The best way to grow long-term progressive infrastructure is to recruit, elect, and support this movement year round. If you’re in this with us, and with the next generation of leaders, would you consider a monthly donation to help us fuel our work?
