Dear friend,

This Giving Tuesday, students like me are counting on you!

My name is Niya Banks. I am a spring 2023 graduate of Spelman College, GA, and a graduate student at Cambridge University, England.

UNCF helps students like me with awards that relieve the financial burden of undergraduate college costs AND help us to continue with graduate studies. They really do. I am a recipient of the Building Better Futures Grant (BBFG), which has helped me to pursue graduate studies.

But UNCF relies on donors like you to make awards like mine possible. When you make your Giving Tuesday gift to UNCF today, you will be helping make college dreams come true for more students like me.

This is my story …

After graduation, I was accepted at the University of Cambridge, England, to pursue a Master of Philosophy degree. Can you imagine how excited I was when I got the news? Well, very soon after that I had to face reality. I just could not afford to cover the expenses to move abroad; the flight alone was $1,000. I applied to UNCF and received a generous BBFG grant. It covered all my expenses to travel to Cambridge, England, and now I am here … a graduate student in the Master of Philosophy program. After Cambridge, I plan to attend law school and build a career as a public defender and a judge.

From my heart to yours, thank you!

Remember that there are many more students like me who need help to get to and complete college.

If you can, please make a gift of whatever you can afford today:

$35 helps a student with general supplies.
$50 helps a student with lab supplies.
$100 helps a student with a textbook.
$200 helps a student with a laptop or tablet.
$500 helps a student with room and board.
$1,000 helps a student with tuition.

Make your Giving Tuesday gift today because "A mind is a terrible thing to waste."®
