Thanksgiving

Yesterday, Americans across the country gathered to celebrate Thanksgiving—a day that highlights the values of gratitude and community at the heart of our nation. I hope your holiday was filled with meaningful moments with loved ones. This Thanksgiving and every day, I am grateful to live in the greatest country in the world. As we reflect on all we have to be thankful for, let’s carry that spirit forward, working together to strengthen our country and create a brighter future for the next generation.

SFA Lumberjack Football

Congressman Sessions tailgates at the SFA football game
Last weekend, I had the privilege of joining President Weaver at Stephen F. Austin State University for an exciting SFA football game. The Lumberjacks delivered a 32-19 decisive win over Abilene Christian! It was great to spend time in Nacogdoches with the SFA community, and I was reminded of the incredible pride of this great university. SFA produces excellence on the field and in the classroom right here in TX-17.

Op-Ed in The Hill

Congressman Sessions announces op-ed publication
This week, I penned an article with Dr. Kevin Sabet in The Hill entitled, “Voters say no more marijuana- Congress should take note.” In a series of landmark election outcomes across the nation, voters rejected marijuana and psychedelic drug legalization measures. Despite efforts from pro-legalization groups to sway public opinion, voters stood firm in opposition to expanding access to these substances. The American people know that marijuana and other drugs are dangerous, they have seen the negative affects firsthand. I call on Congress to oppose legalization, the future of our children depends on it. You can read the op-ed here.

Service Academy Interviews

Congressman Sessions continued service academy nomination interviews

As I did the weekend before last, I continued my interviews with service academy hopefuls in TX-17, this time in Huntsville and Lufkin. It has been an honor to meet with some of the most talented and driven young people from our communities, all seeking a nomination for consideration for admission to one of our nation’s prestigious service academies. The process of securing an appointment to a service academy is incredibly competitive, and I am always impressed by the dedication and ambition of these young men and women. I wish all this year’s applicants the very best as they continue in the process, and I look forward to supporting their journey toward becoming the future leaders of our military and our nation.
