Trust Conference 2024 brought together more than 750 global leaders, innovators, and changemakers to tackle some of the most pressing issues at the intersection of independent media, responsible business, and the law.
From the electrifying opening panel featuring Nobel Laureate, Maria Ressa, and award-winning journalist, Kara Swisher, to the moving testimonies of journalists who are reporting from the frontlines of conflict zones within their home countries, experience some of the most powerful and noteworthy moments from the conference.
Celebrating our Lovie Award wins
We're thrilled to announce that our newsroom, Context, has been recognised at this year's Lovie Awards, which celebrate Europe's best online contributions in the fields of culture, technology and business.
Context stood out among 1,400 entries from over 45 nations. Our platform's unique focus on the intersection of technology, climate change, and inclusive economies resulted in three significant commendations:
- Bronze Jury Award for Openly TikTok in the "Best Social Media: News and Politics" category
- Bronze Jury Award for Inclusive Economies Correspondent Emma Batha's hard-hitting investigation: Soaring abuse in UK care jobs shatters migrants' dreams
- People's Choice Award for Emma Batha's investigation, highlighting its resonance with our audience.
These awards not only celebrate our team's innovative reporting, but also underscore the importance of our mission to deliver news and analysis that shows how critical issues impact ordinary people. We're honoured by this recognition and remain committed to bringing you incisive analysis on the issues that matter most.

Promoting Responsible Business
The lack of a clear strategy for corporate AI adoption risks compromising workplace security and poses ethical challenges for employees and society.
It also creates a transparency deficit, which is set to become one of the most pressing risk management concerns for business leaders across the globe.
Last month, in partnership with UNESCO, we introduced our AI Governance Disclosure Initiative which enables companies to evaluate how AI is integrated in their operations, products and services. In this blog, our CEO Antonio Zappulla, and UNESCO's Assistant Director-General for Social and Human Sciences, Gabriela Ramos, outline the initiative and its advantages for corporate leaders.
Strengthening Independent Media
From sifting through vast amounts of data to identify stories, to tailoring content to reader preferences, the technological advancements from AI are continuing to reshape the future of journalism.
As part of our work to strengthen the sustainability of newsrooms, we are offering a mentoring programme to help newsrooms in Argentina, Chile and Uruguay harness the power of AI in journalism.

In today's global landscape, press freedom faces increasing pressure in various parts of the world.
A looming foreign agent law in El Salvador has forced many journalists to consider exile to continue their vital work.
In response to these challenges, we've developed a comprehensive guide with SembraMedia to support media professionals when setting up in new jurisdictions. It covers everything from setting up a sustainable media outlet to choosing the right legal status.
