Dear PFAW Member,

Each pay period, workers pay into the social security fund so that they
will have money when they retire – it’s a universal social safety net for
retired employees. Now, Donald Trump's administration wants you to forfeit
your future social security benefits for cash benefits now, placing your
retirement at risk. While the administration has no problem finding
billions to bailout corporations without increasing tax rates or asking
them to pay their fair share, they're asking regular people to forfeit
their future security.

puts working people at risk to protect corporations>>

If Republicans are comfortable taking on debt to offer $500 billion to
bailout corporations during the coronavirus without raising their tax rate
or asking them to pay their fair share, why are they comfortable asking
working people to chip away at their retirement funding to keep the
economy afloat? Regular people cannot be taken advantage of by being asked
to sacrifice their future social security benefits for a bailout today.

During a once-in-a-lifetime crisis like this pandemic, it is crucial that
Congress not risk our health and economy for another reckless corporate
giveaway, either now or tomorrow.

Social Security is popular because it is a simple, universal benefit.
Everyone pays in, and everyone earns benefits. The Trump administration is
seeking to achieve a long-term right-wing goal to chip away at its
universal promise. This new plan is untenable and a fundamental threat to
our social safety net.
