Dear friend,

Thank you for eight decades of support.

Our year-long celebration of 80 years of service to the African American community is almost done. We are very grateful for your friendship and loyal support, which helped us put a college education within the reach of deserving students who would otherwise never have the financial resources to obtain a college degree.

500,000 plus graduates and counting.

Each year, as we face many societal, economic and national challenges, we never forget the importance and impact of our work. We are the last harbor for financial aid for many of our students. We never forget how vital our work is for them.

This past year, our nation has lived through wars overseas, gun violence at home, weather upheavals that destroy families and communities, and the sometimes-vitriolic rhetoric from politicians all while our students struggle. They struggle to keep faith in their dreams for a fulfilling life and to find the resources they need to pull themselves up and out of their difficult financial circumstances by completing college and earning their degrees.

We are grateful for your confidence in UNCF.

As we relax over the next few days, I believe that this is a time for reflection, gratitude and support: reflection on how to be a compassionate and thoughtful family member, friend, colleague, neighbor and national and global citizen; gratitude for our family and friends; and support for our nation and its stable institutions.

I am extremely grateful for you, for my family and friends and for UNCF’s success in delivering on our mission to our communities, our students and our colleges.

Thank you for the support you give to UNCF. We cannot deliver on our mission without you.

Take care, be well and stay safe.

Sincerely,

Michael L. Lomax, Ph.D.
