Dear SPUC supporter,

Kim Leadbeater’s Terminally Ill Adults (End of Life) Bill will be voted on tomorrow. We’ve written to our MPs. We’ve attended public meetings. We’ve distributed leaflets.

Our campaign has had a real impact. But still some MPs are undecided on how they will vote tomorrow. How else can we get our message across?

MPs spend a lot of time on their phones, monitoring social media. If you are on X (formerly known as Twitter), you can still influence your MP by contacting them there.

We’ve prepared some example posts for you to use. Pick whichever ones you think most appropriate for your MP.

  • The NHS is broken - the Government needs to fix that and fund palliative care properly, NOT legalise assisted suicide via a rushed process. Please vote against Kim Leadbeater's bill.
  • Assisted suicide would put vulnerable people in danger, and tell some people their lives are not worth living. Please read these stories of ordinary people opposed to assisted suicide https://tinyurl.com/4e4ntnt8
  • Please vote AGAINST Kim Leadbeater's Terminally Ill Adults bill. There will be very little time for scrutiny after Second Reading, so the bill now is the bill that will become law -  Nikki Da Costa, former director of Legislative Affairs at No 10, explains it in this video: https://x.com/BBCr4today/status/1858421828684833017
  • Palliative care doctors are worried about the impact of assisted suicide - please watch this video and vote against https://x.com/DrWhitehouse1/status/1861807885488943579?t=qydxW_CkR4wGre52tgTfVg&s=19
How do I find my MP on X?

You should be able to find your MP’s X account (if they have one!) by searching their name on X. Alternatively, Care Not Killing have produced this tool which finds your MP’s account and gives some graphics of their recent polling to post to him/her. You can of course use their example posts, and also use ours once you know your MP’s X handle!

If you are on X, please take this final action to influence your MP.

With best wishes,
Alithea Williams
