There are so many reasons to be grateful here in Colorado. Among those are our farmers and producers, who work tirelessly year-round to grow the delicious, fresh food that sustains us. It’s thanks to their hard work that we can enjoy the bounty of Colorado-grown products on our tables, from potatoes and pumpkins to Olathe sweet corn and squash.
Last week, ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, I had the honor of pardoning four very special turkeys: Lady Riketa Featherington, Dinger, Rockette, and Fred, all of whom joined us from local Colorado farms. Marlon and I welcomed our esteemed guests for an overnight stay at the Governor’s Mansion, where they got a good night’s rest before journeying to their forever home at
Broken Shovels Animal Sanctuary.
This special annual tradition celebrates the many contributions of Colorado’s thriving agriculture industry to our culture and our economy.
