As we gather to celebrate Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to reflect on the immense gratitude I feel for each of you. Your belief in our shared vision for the future of Northwest Washington has been a source of strength and inspiration throughout this campaign.
To everyone who cast their ballot this year: thank you for strengthening our democracy. To the tireless volunteers, campaign staff, and community leaders who made this journey possible: your dedication made a difference in the lives of so many. And to my spouse, Tiia, whose unwavering support has been my foundation: I couldn't do this work without you.
Representing Washington's 2nd district is a privilege I hold close to my heart. Together, we have made strides, but there is more to do to protect reproductive freedom, tackle challenges like the opioid epidemic, and grow economic opportunities for our families and neighbors.
This Thanksgiving, I encourage everyone to reflect on what we are thankful for and how we can give support to others in the year ahead. As we look to 2025, the investments we make into our own communities will be absolutely crucial to upholding Northwest Washington values.
Whether through volunteering, donating to an impactful charity, or simply lending a helping hand — your actions can uplift your neighborhood.
Thank you for being a part of my journey this year and for all you do to make Northwest Washington a great place to live. Wishing you and your loved ones a Thanksgiving filled with warmth, gratitude, and joy.
With heartfelt thanks,
Rick
