This turkey had just days left to live. At only four months old, they would have been slaughtered on Monday for Thanksgiving. But thanks to you, the bird our rescuers have been lovingly calling “Avery” now has a future at Farm Sanctuary.
Purchased along with three other young turkeys, this friendly individual was being raised for food. Sadly, the rest of their flock has not survived, leaving him or her all alone.
This heartbroken and lonely bird would follow their guardian around, eager for companionship.
Who wouldn’t fall in love? Although Avery was scheduled to be slaughtered, the guardian had a change of heart and chose to save the bird’s life.
We are delighted to bring this survivor to a safe and permanent home at our New York sanctuary.
