The holiday season is in full swing, John, and we know that can lead to some uncomfortable conversations around the dinner table.
As much as we love family, it can come with butting heads, differing opinions, and some heated discussions.
That’s why we’re coming to you today with a Thanksgiving survival guide on how to talk about a topic that shouldn’t be as controversial as it is: Reparations.
The fight for reparations is one of our major pillars and that means that we can’t let up even for a moment. It starts with our loved ones, our friends, and our family. These are where the conversations need to start.
Black Lives Matter is partnering with Get Free—a new youth-led movement organization to repair past harms, remove ongoing barriers to equality, and realize a future where freedom is for all—to share this guidance for moving our loved ones to support and take action for reckoning and repair.
So here’s our advice on how to navigate these conversations:
We hope this helps, John, and we know you got this! 🫡
In love and solidarity,
Black Lives Matter
Our grassroots movement is pushing for Black liberation every single day. We are striving to create a world where Black people do so much more than just survive. It’s time we thrive.
As an organization one of our biggest hurdles is consistency.
A recurring contribution of anything you can afford goes a long way as we plan for the months, years, and even decades ahead. This is the most effective way for small-dollar donors (like you) to power our Black liberation work.
Will you make a recurring contribution of $5 or more today so that we can keep building momentum for our movement?
