A dangerous bill that just passed the House of Representatives would allow the Trump Administration to shut down organizations that disagree with him – like Food & Water Watch.

This would put civil society groups across the political spectrum at serious risk, as well as news outlets, universities, and any other tax-exempt organizations.

Take action today: Tell your Senators to oppose S. 4136 and protect nonprofits who oppose Trump!

This bill, S.4136, would allow the Treasury Secretary under the Trump Administration to silence organizations by revoking their tax-exempt status with little oversight.

This would have a chilling effect, stripping funding for organizations, news outlets, and universities that oppose Trump, whose voices will be more important than ever over the next four years.

If passed, Donald Trump’s administration could use this legislation to suppress and punish those they view as political enemies. Something he and his allies have repeatedly threatened while on the campaign trail.

It’s all part of a broader far-right assault on democracy and the right to protest. S. 4136 must be stopped to protect our democracy!

After passing the House this week, the bill moves to the Senate – so your Senators need to hear from you before the next vote. Together, we can stop Congress from giving the Executive Branch broad new powers that can be easily abused to undermine our freedoms.
