Looking to the future

John,
The holiday season is just getting started, and we're looking forward to good food, quality time with loved ones, and a little rest after a tumultuous few months. This time of year is looking a little different for many of us – our friends and neighbors across Western NC (where CSE is based) are still recovering from the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, and queer folks across the country are worried about how the Trump Administration will impact LGBTQ+ equality in the years to come. We can find comfort in the knowledge that queer people have faced dark times like these throughout history, and we can look to our predecessors for the best path forward to protect our community through this turbulent time.
Local love. Regional leadership. National impact.
That's what we're thinking about as we prepare for 2025 – we know that CSE can get creative, show up in a wide range of spaces, and make a difference. From distributing supplies to LGBTQ+ people recovering from a hurricane in our office in the basement of a church, to having phone calls with parents in Idaho and Missouri and Florida who are unsure of how to get their kid to their doctor's appointment hundreds of miles away – we are committed to Meeting the Moment for queer communities and doing so with compassion, strategy, and precision.
We are able to Meet the Moment because of supporters who show up for us time and time again. Now, as we head into the end of 2024, we'd be so grateful for your support. ([link removed])
Your donation is like gas in the tank for us. Right now, the U.S. Supreme Court is considering the fate of state legislation that bans trans youth from receiving hormone therapy. But a decision is months away, and in that time, we'll need to help hundreds of families of transgender youth travel many miles to access the healthcare they need. And in the meantime, we are clear-eyed about the chaos and likely crises that will come under the Trump Administration. We cannot give an inch on our hard-won progress, and we will be ready to pivot as needed to protect our community.
One impactful way to support our work is to purchase a copy of our book, Trans Kids, Our Kids, for yourself or as a gift for a queer person in your life. Click here to order your copy today from a publisher of your choice – 100% of the proceeds support our Trans Youth Emergency Project. ([link removed])
We know the next few months – and frankly, years – will not be easy. Extreme anti-LGBTQ+ forces have been growing in power and influence, and there are real threats to our rights looming. But our community, our love, and our joy are stronger than their hate, and no candidate or election can stop the growing tide of LGBTQ+ visibility and acceptance across the South, and our whole country. We're asking you to stay the course – and not give up hope. We can and will get through this moment – together.
Thank you for being on our team,
Adam Polaski
