It seems that Republicans often want a different set of rules for
themselves than for others. For example...
Donald Trump intervened to get
reduced sentencing for his buddy Roger Stone, while tens of
thousands of black Americans languish in prison because of racist
mandatory minimums.
Paul Manafort has been released
from prison due to the threat of COVID-19, while folks on the
other side of the aisle like former Rep. Chaka Fattah remain
behind bars.
It’s a sad state for justice in
our country, John.
But, this week we did get some
encouragement that there may be hope for our justice system. At
the very moment that it appeared Attorney General William Barr
and Donald Trump were going to get away with letting Michael
Flynn walk free (after confessing to lying to the FBI), a federal
judge intervened.
Judge Emmet Sullivan could smell
through the dodgy explanation William Barr cooked up as to why he
was dropping changes against Flynn, which is why he has now
called for interested outside parties to submit their thoughts
about the case. This process of asking for amicus curiae briefs
will hopefully allow the truth to reveal itself and justice be
done.
So, I will be following this case
closely, John. But even more than
that, I will never stop fighting this corrupt administration and
working to protect justice in our nation. If you’re able, I’d
appreciate a $10 or $15 contribution to power my campaign heading
into our critical primary next month. It will really make a
difference as we go up against our pro-Trump opponent in the
fall.
