[1]Ayanna Pressley

Yesterday, Ayanna joined Ahmaud Arbery’s mother, Wanda Cooper-Jones, civil
rights attorney Lee Merritt, and Senator Cory Booker for a discussion with
The Appeal/Now This about Ahmaud Arbery’s murder and our fight for
accountability.

In their conversation yesterday, Wanda recalled that her son, Ahmaud, was
a humble, kind, and caring young man. Ayanna reminded us that we cannot
allow ourselves to remember Ahmaud only for the way he was murdered — we
must also create space to remember who Ahmaud was and how he lived his
life.

The reality is that there will be no justice for Ahmaud. Justice would be
a young man who is still alive today, a family who still has their son.

But we must fight for accountability.

That’s why Ayanna and Cory Booker sent a letter signed by nearly 100 of
their colleagues in Congress demanding that the Department of Justice open
a federal civil rights investigation into Ahmaud Arbery’s murder, and an
independent investigation into the local officials’ handling of the case.

With your support, we’ll show the Department of Justice that thousands of
people are demanding accountability for Ahmaud’s murder and the local
officials who failed to act.

and help us fight for accountability? Every signature added will be
electronically delivered to the Department of Justice.

Together we will say his name — Ahmaud Arbery — and continue to work for
accountability. Thank you for joining us in this struggle.

In solidarity,

The A-Team
