Dear Friends,
It is my honor to write to you after my first full month as Executive Director of the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM). And what a month it has been. On the heels of a presidential election result that has created uncertainty for many in our community, I would like to share with you our initial plan of action and remind you of the vital services ILCM provides. |

|
-
Scale up our deportation defense work to protect families from separation;
- Expedite our filings for DACA and TPS to secure temporary relief for as many individuals as possible;
- Increase community outreach initiatives with a specific focus on providing educational resources and creating additional volunteer opportunities;
- Assist as many refugees and asylees as possible in obtaining green cards and paths to US citizenship;
-
Continue supporting those who have survived human trafficking, violent crime, abuse, and domestic violence in achieving safety through legal status.
ILCM will react accordingly as we learn more about how policies and enforcement may change. We will maintain flexibility in our approach while staying grounded in our commitment to our mission and values.
I look forward to building upon ILCM’s decades of success, supporting our clients on their pathways to secure legal status, and advocating for immigration policy that respects the universal human rights of immigrants. In solidarity, |

ILCM Post-Election Statement
The Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota (ILCM) is dedicated to providing quality immigration legal services to low-income immigrants and refugees across Minnesota and North Dakota, educating our communities about immigration matters, and advocating for public policies that respect the universal human rights of immigrants. We will continue to do so regardless of who holds elected office, keeping our clients and their communities at the forefront of our work.
While we do not underestimate the gravity of the situation and potential for significant obstacles ahead, ILCM is poised to confront these challenges with the utmost determination and compassion. ILCM has stood the test of time over many federal administrations. Decades of building connections within communities have positioned us to champion the rights and dignity of our clients, no matter the circumstances. Especially today, we must reaffirm our support for our immigrant and refugee neighbors and renew our commitment to building a world where everyone’s humanity is recognized and celebrated to its fullest.

| Give to the Max Day
Thank you, thank you, thank you! Give to the Max Day (GTMD) was an incredible day. 315 donors came together to raise $52,017 for immigrant and refugee clients in need of free immigration legal assistance. Our community recognized the importance of reaffirming our support for immigrants and refugees, resulting in the biggest GTMD in ILCM history. We are humbled by the generosity of our community of supporters. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. |

Resources At ILCM, we know it is crucial to broaden access to relevant, accurate information. We encourage everyone to visit our Know Your Rights page and share the information with your communities. We have a variety of resources available in multiple languages, including printable versions. Keeping up with policy changes and court decisions can be daunting, so we have compiled a DACA Factsheet that addresses the most recent updates to the program and relevant questions and answers. |
