ACLU Supporter, Joe Biden has two more months as president – and with no election left to win and the next four years clear, he must act now to protect our civil liberties before Donald Trump takes office in January.

We've got three actions that President Biden can take right now to protect us all – and we need your help to keep up the pressure on his administration to get these done before January:

• Commute the row: With Donald Trump's plans to expand on his inhumane, unprecedented use of the death penalty, Biden must act now to prevent irreversible miscarriages of justice. He can – and must – use his powers to commute the death sentences of every person on federal death row and prevent another Trump administration execution spree.
• Keep the Trump administration out of our data: The U.S. government is using a loophole to buy their way into our personal data – dodging warrant requirements by buying our information off of third parties. The Biden administration must end federal purchases of personal information before he leaves office.
• Shut down the ICE detention machine: ICE has signaled plans to expand its capacity and open up new detention facilities – facilities that will only help make mass deportations a reality. Before the Trump administration is able to carry these plans out, President Biden must stop this expansion and close abusive ICE detention facilities once and for all.

President Biden has an opportunity right now to cement a legacy of compassion and prioritize protections for our civil rights and liberties before he leaves office. But he must act now. Passing these policies immediately is our strongest opportunity to cut off paths for the Trump administration's abusive, unjust plans to proceed.

Everything is on the line – and President Biden has no time to hold back. He must use these final months of his presidency to fulfill his campaign promises to all of us and protect our rights.
