A message from Gov. Evers and the U.S. Climate Alliance: we’re committed to safeguarding our communities and addressing the climate crisis.

Working with our state and local elected officials is crucial when we know there will soon be threats to our climate coming from the Trump administration. We’re thankful for the leadership of Gov. Tony Evers and other governors around the country who will continue to fight for our environment and our health. Watch their video message here:

Federal funds help to make a safe haven on Madeline Island

Thanks to a grant funded by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, the town of La Pointe is installing solar panels and energy storage at their Emergency Services Building, ensuring reliable power in emergencies. This project could be a lifesaver for the island community. Check out the video:

Wisconsin Native Vote is making heads spin

This election, Wisconsin Native Vote used creative tactics to get out the Native vote, such as hiring artists to produce murals and posters, hosting sports-centerned voting events, and highlighting community members on billboards, mail pieces, and digital ads. Our success comes from the deep trusted relationships the team has built with tribal governments, communities, and Native institutions.

Updates from the field: Stevens Point is making progress on climate

For the past year, our Central Organizer Maxwell Johnson has been working with Stevens Point residents to run a campaign to commit Stevens Point to 100 percent clean energy and carbon neutrality. The resolution passed in June of this year thanks to members like you attending events, submitting public comments, and helping collect 350 petition signatures from the community.

Part of the city’s commitment was the creation of a Sustainability Commission. Just last week, the city council approved six people to sit on the commission. This is another big step forward in our fight against climate change. Over the coming months, the Sustainability Commission will meet and begin the work of baselining the city’s carbon emissions, seeking out information from other Wisconsin communities, and engaging the public to understand how they can equitably transition to the renewable energy future.
