From rising anti-LGBTQ rhetoric to harmful legislation to increased attacks on our rights, this was a tough year. And honestly, the road ahead looks even tougher. But thanks to the unwavering commitment of our community, GLAAD is expanding the tools and improving the insights needed to fight back against whatever comes next.

In the last year, supporters like you helped GLAAD:

Launch the ALERT Desk, a vital resource created in response to the 112% rise in anti-LGBTQ hate this year. This tool allows us to prioritize LGBTQ-specific incidents for journalists, ensuring our stories remain part of the mainstream conversation while equipping local media and reporters with the insights they need to cover our community accurately and effectively.

Push several social media platforms, including TikTok, to ban conversion therapy content, taking a critical step towards reducing the spread of misinformation and hate online.

Expand initiatives like The GLAAD List and the Equity in Entertainment Initiative to address the gap found in authentic LGBTQ characters and storytelling in film as highlighted in our 2024 Studio Responsibility Index.

Launch “Here We Are”, a video campaign that amplifies the authentic voices of transgender people, offering their real stories at a time when 71% of Americans report never having met a transgender person. Amid increasing anti-trans rhetoric from politicians and media, the campaign seeks to foster understanding, challenge misconceptions, and advocate for acceptance by sharing impactful and deeply personal narratives.
