Dear Neighbors,
From my family to yours, we wish you a blessed and joyous Thanksgiving!
I hope that you can spend Thanksgiving with family and friends and that you take time to give thanks this holiday season.
I am thankful for the support of my family. I am also thankful to live in the greatest nation on earth and for the men and women who have sacrificed so much to defend our freedoms.
Finally, I am thankful for the trust you placed in me on November 5th to continue serving you and your family in St. Paul for the next two years.
By now, you’ve likely heard that the Minnesota House of Representatives will be tied 67-67 when lawmakers take the oath of office on January 14th for only the second time in our state’s history.
This means that the so-called Democrat Trifecta is officially over, and a balanced state government will return to St. Paul. Because of the 67-67 tie, any legislation that was to pass the House and become law needs to have bipartisan support.
Unlike the last two years when Democrats had full control of the legislature and could jam through any legislation they wanted, lawmaking in 2025 and 2026 will require true collaboration. This is good news for Minnesota.
Stay tuned for more information on the power-sharing agreement as details continue to be negotiated between House Republican and Democrat leadership.
