John,

Last week in a historic move, the International Criminal Court (ICC) formerly accused the Israeli government of war crimes and issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant.

Respecting this independent court’s decision, other world leaders like Canada’s Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and France’s President Emmanuel Macron said they would honor these warrants and arrest these leaders if they set foot in their countries.

Meanwhile, not only are U.S. officials disparaging the court’s decision, but President Biden himself reportedly called Macron on behalf of Netanyahu and said he has “a right to be angry” about France enforcing the ICC’s warrant.

Justice Democrats Rep. Cori Bush is right: if we believe in the rule of law, then we should start acting like it and hold Israel accountable for its war crimes.

Tweet from Cori Bush: The ICC’s arrest warrants for Netanyahu & Gallant are long past due and reaffirm the illegality of Israeli genocide and occupation. This is an important step toward accountability. The U.S. must honor this decision, impose an arms embargo & stop enabling these atrocities.

As long as the United States continues to arm Israel with weapons and bombs while it commits crimes against humanity, our country is complicit in breaking international law and perpetuating genocide. It’s time for Biden to act.
