Dear John,
Is it too late to save American democracy?
I don’t think so.
For years, I’ve been writing and making videos about all the ways we can make our government and democracy work better for everyone. Some of these can be more easily achieved than you might think. Others are more long-term (and a little outside the box). But if we want to see these changes, we have to start demanding them now.
Please check out our latest video and then share it to your social media. The long weekend is the perfect time to watch.
What are some of the ideas? I go into a lot more detail on the specifics in the video, but here are just a few that I believe will put us on the path to making our democracy work for everyone. They include:
-
Scrapping the Electoral College
-
Reforming the Supreme Court
-
Ending gerrymandering
-
Banning members of Congress from trading individual stocks
-
Expanding the number of representatives in the House (Just hear me out.)
Now, implementing these ideas won’t be easy or fast, and no single elected leader can do it on their own. Like all big changes, it’s going to take broad, grassroots, popular support. The time to plant the seeds of change is now.
The work starts with spreading the word, so please watch our video compilation over the long weekend and share it with folks you know.
Let’s make our democracy better together.
