Upcoming Legislative Session
Texas Capitol
For more than 50 years, the Texas Film Commission (TFC) has helped grow local jobs and economies by promoting Texas as the premier destination for film, television, commercial, animation, visual effects, video game and extended reality production. The growth of these creative industries and the local jobs they create in communities all across this great state would not be possible without the support of the Governor and members of the Texas House and Texas Senate.
That is why we look forward with great excitement to the first day of the 89th Texas Legislature on January 14, 2025.

Revisiting The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

In October, we were beyond excited to partner with the Bullock Texas State History Museum in presenting a sold-out screening of "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre" in honor of its 50th anniversary and as the re-launch of the Texas Focus Film Series.
With behind-the-scenes photos provided by the Texas Archive of the Moving Image to start the night off and a Q&A session hosted by the TFC's own Matt Miller with writer Kim Henkel, star Teri McMinn and composer Wayne Bell to close things out, we're proud to call the evening a success! Many thanks to everyone who joined us for the screening.

On the Road Again With the TFC
On the Road
We've been busy since last you heard from us! Here is just a bit of what TFC staffers have gotten up to recently:
* Ali Nichols, Cassandra Ariztegui and Ashley Robinson attended the *2024 AICP Awards in Dallas*.
* Steven McCaig and Robert Rodriguez volunteered at the *Central Texas Food Bank*, where they assisted in packing 2,500 lbs. of beets for individuals battling food insecurity.
* The TFC staff attended the *TXAFC's BBQ Supper at the Austin Film Festival*, where they met with several filmmakers both local and visiting. You may have also spotted TFC Director Stephanie Whallon on a panel at the festival about the state of Filmmaking in Texas.
* Steven made his way down to San Antonio to attend the San Antonio Film Commission's most recent Coffee Talk, as part of the *San Antonio Black International Film Festival (SABIFF)*.
* Steven and Robert also attended the *Lost River Film Festival *in San Marcos, where they got to see several Texas-made projects and meet with Texas-based filmmakers.
* Michelle Habecker and Alexander Payne traveled to Longview, where they presented information on the economic impact of media production in Texas at the *2024 ARCIT Regional Conference* and scouted the area for our Texas Locations Database.
