As we head into the new year, we will continue to focus on the many issues that are associated with land use policies and activities that advance healthy communities, positive economic outcomes, and environmental benefits in Wisconsin. Our goal is to help people make the connection between sound land use and transportation decisions, which lead to a healthier, cleaner environment. We are working to ensure communities across Wisconsin draft and adopt comprehensive climate action plans that focus on equitably reducing greenhouse gas emissions and a responsible focus on mitigation. And - we address community policies that are too frequently underestimated in their importance to protecting our environment and our health.

Giving Tuesday is just one week away on December 3.

Join us next Wednesday, December 4 from 12-1 (central) for a webinar with Dr. Wes Marshall, professor at the University of Colorado in Denver and author of Killed by a Traffic Engineer! Marshall pulls back the glittering green curtain to reveal that the wizards of traffic engineering are not wizards at all, but just men (and they are still mostly men) who rely on bad science and sketchy data to design the streets and roads we all use. Not only that, he managed to write a 400-page book about traffic engineering that is highly entertaining, easy to read, and often funny.

The Center for Zoning Solutions is Smart Growth America's home for the zoning reform movement. They share research and reports, lead federal advocacy efforts, and support communities across the country to tackle barriers to smart growth and advance policies to encourage mixed-use development, location efficiency, and diverse housing options.

This is very helpful for 1kfriends as we advocate for smart zoning in Milwaukee and across the state.
