Today, I was proud to present Dr. Marla Spivak from the University of Minnesota Bee Lab with an official House Resolution thanking her for her work researching the health of bees in our state ahead of her retirement later this year. It was great to join Dr. Spivak alongside her colleagues Dr. Elaine Evans, Jessica Helgen, Elise Bernstein, and Dr. Katie Lee.
The research conducted by Dr. Spivak and the Bee Lab has been key to helping guide science-driven environmental policy here at the Legislature, and I’ve been glad to welcome her to testify in front of the legislature countless times in the past. Congratulations on your retirement, and thank you for your work and dedication!
This year’s election resulted in a 67-67 tie in the State House, and last week I shared with you the overall committee structure for the 2025-26 legislative biennium agreed to by both caucus leaders.
On four days each year, all Minnesota state parks and state recreation areas offer free admission to everyone - no vehicle permits needed! The next free parks day is this Friday, November 29.
Minnesota state parks are open year-round, and there's a state park within 30 miles of most Minnesotans. With a free day in each season, it's a great opportunity to get out there and explore someplace new - or visit an old favorite at a new time of year! Whether you stay for the whole weekend or just spend a few hours outside, you'll make memories that will last a lifetime.
Please continue to share your questions, ideas, and feedback throughout the year. You can reach me by email at [email protected] or by phone at 651-296-6828. You can contact my Legislative Assistant Sam O'Neill at 651-296-3305 or via email at [email protected].
Sincerely,
Rick Hansen State Representative
