Email from Zionist Organization of America ZIONIST ORGANIZATION OF AMERICA NEWS RELEASE Student Activists Across the U.S. Name ZOA, Among a Handful of Jewish Groups, As Helpful in Fighting Campus Antisemitism The Zionist Organization of America (ZOA) – which has been committed for decades to supporting, educating and advocating for Jewish students in schools and on college campuses across the U.S. – is proud to report the results of an informal poll: More than 100 student leaders across the country have named the ZOA, among a small number of other Jewish groups, as helpful in fighting antisemitism on college campuses. This informal poll was conducted by noted Jewish student activist Shabbos Kestenbaum, who stood up to antisemitism on his Harvard University campus, including by testifying before Congress. Shabbos asked 116 Jewish students across America to name Jewish groups that have been helpful in combatting antisemitism. He approached students who, like Shabbos, are “on the frontlines and doing more than anyone else to secure the Jewish future.” These students identified ZOA, among a small group of other organizations. Shabbos posted the results of his informal poll on X (shown below). ZOA National President Morton A. Klein expressed his pride that students feel supported by ZOA, stating, “For years, ZOA’s campus department has been building strong relationships with college students, providing them with programming and other resources so that they can increase their knowledge about Israel and respond effectively and with confidence to anti-Israel speakers, programs and initiatives like BDS. For over 20 years, ZOA’s Center for Law and Justice has supported and advocated for college students across the country when they have faced antisemitism, to ensure that their legal right to be proud Jews and Zionists is safeguarded. It was the ZOA that played the key role in ensuring that Jewish students would be protected under Title VI of the Civil Rights Act, the federal law that so many individuals and groups are now using in the fight against campus antisemitism.” Jonathan Ginsburg, director of ZOA Campus, said: “ZOA’s campus coordinators and our ZOA Fellows, who are our student liaisons to their peers on their campuses, have helped us lead the way in effectively educating and mobilizing Jewish students. We’re glad that Jewish students know that they can count on the ZOA for support, resources and counsel.” Susan B. Tuchman, Esq., director of the ZOA’s Center for Law and Justice, added, “Shabbos Kestenbaum is right to recognize that Jewish students are today’s leaders and that we must listen to them, hear their concerns, and support and strengthen them. That is exactly what’s motivated ZOA for decades. We’ll continue to stand with and stand up for Jewish students. And we encourage them to continue to come to us if they face harassment, intimidation or discrimination on their campus.” VIEW ON OUR WEBSITE Share This Email Share This Email DONATE Copyright © Zionist Organization of America 2024, All rights reserved.
