We recently launched our new 'Boresha Mazingira' project in West Pokot County, Kenya. The project will run for three years, and hopes to reach 15,000 people. It will focus on training communities in sustainable agriculture and business development, while protecting the environment.
| | To mark the occasion, we held an exciting launch event (pictured above) within the local community. It offered a hands-on opportunity for farmers to learn about sustainable farming methods that could replace ones which are harmful to the environment.
The event was a great success, attended by over 600 farmers and many key stakeholders. Read our blog to find out more about the project and the launch event from our Farm Systems Coordinator, Isaac Ogutu. |

Our gender inclusion work | Family hierarchies in rural East Africa remain fairly traditional. This can lead to inequalities in workload, decision-making and access to resources within the household. In some instances there can also be cases of gender-based violence.
Yesterday saw the start of the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence, and I'd like to share a blog with you written by our Gender and Social Inclusion Coordinator, Sofanit Mesfin.
Sofanit talks about the connection between our gender inclusion work and gender-based violence. She also shares the story of Esther and Timothy (pictured below), a husband and wife living in Uganda.
Esther experienced physical abuse as a result of the dynamics within their marriage, but after Timothy joined a Ripple Effect project, the result was transformational for them and their family. To find out more, read Sofanit's blog.
