Dear Supporters of EMET,
Like us, you are probably basking in the afterglow of our 2024 Rays of Light in the Darkness Dinner where we honored Representative and President Trump’s nominee for U.N. Ambassador Elise Stefanik (R-NY), Representative Jared Moscowitz (D-FL), Israeli Ambassador Michael Herzog and Mrs. Shirin Herzog, Mosab Hassan Yousef, and Shabbos Kestenbaum.
However, the ROLD dinner is just a small part of what we do at EMET throughout the year. And this Giving Tuesday, we would like to ask for your help in accomplishing our goals. Everyday, we are on Capitol Hill fighting for Israel, the United States and Jewish community. Recently, our top priorities have been forcing a Senate vote on sanctioning the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the Antisemitism Awareness Act (AAA), which seeks to make the Department of Education consider the International Holocaust Remember Alliance (IHRA) definition of antisemitism when assessing Title VI violations of the Civil Rights Act.
These two initiatives are key to fighting the antisemitic weaponization of international institutions and domestic universities againstIsrael and the Jewish community. EMET has been advocating for the AAA for years, often alone, and we are proud to have worked with all the key cosponsors of the legislation.
Likewise, EMET has been working on ICC sanctions since the court filed for arrest warrants in May. We are proud to have supported the bipartisan Illegitimate Court Counteraction Act (ICCA) that passed in the House in June and have been working to pressure a vote on the ICCA in the Senate.
Although these bills are currently our main focus, we have done much more in the past year. We have held numerous meetings with Congressional offices to discuss Qatari and Turkish support for Hamas, how weak policy has emboldened Iran, how the United States can support Israel during its time of need and the threat posed by Iran, and its proxies to regional stability.
In addition to our Capitol Hill meetings, we host public weekly webinars with some of the foremost experts on the region and write weekly articles that are published in a variety of outlets such as Newsweek, JNS, the Hill, the Jerusalem Post, National Interest, the Begin Sadat Center for Strategic Studies, and more.
None of this work is possible without help from you, our supporters. We are a 501c3 nonprofit and as such rely on your help to fight for a stable Middle East, strong United States, robust Israeli-U.S. relations, and protecting our Jewish students.
Best,
Sarah Stern
