Yesterday, this headline popped onto my screen:
I was sad, but not surprised. Every year, hospitals admit thousands of unidentified patients who either just did not have their ID at the time of their accident or, often, who don’t have an ID at all. There are so many hidden barriers for people who don’t have IDs, even as someone who has done this work for almost a decade, I am still frequently surprised when someone tells me yet another thing they could not do without identification. This is why, in 2025, we are building on our work by significantly expanding the number of organizations and agencies across the country that are able to obtain IDs, through our Incubator, 50 State Coalition, HUBs, and more.
