Sudan is experiencing a man-made starvation crisis of historic proportions.

More than 25 million people — including 14 million children — across Sudan are facing severe acute food insecurity, and at least 755,000 people facing catastrophic levels of hunger could die in the coming months.

Sudan is also experiencing the world’s largest internal displacement crisis after more than 10 million people fled violence that erupted between the Sudanese army and paramilitary forces last year.

When conflict and disaster threaten the lives and livelihoods of civilians, Mercy Corps takes action. But we can’t do this work alone — it takes the dedication of our teams on the ground, the resiliency of the communities we serve, and the generous support of people like you.

Will you make an early Giving Tuesday gift to send urgent support to families in crisis and help us to stay long after the headlines fade?

Mercy Corps is actively responding to the crisis in Sudan, delivering much-needed humanitarian assistance to those affected by the ongoing conflict. More than a year after the conflict began, one of our team members shares her experience below.

“Witnessing firsthand the devastating consequences of conflicts, my family and I constantly fear for our safety and the safety of our loved ones…Enduring a year of constant artillery and gunfire noises, even basic tasks posed serious risks due to stray bullets and ongoing clashes.”

Despite the challenges, we have delivered cash aid to internally displaced people to help more than 12,000 families meet their daily needs, enabling them to buy essentials like food, water, medicine, and hygiene supplies. Mercy Corps is also supporting smallholder farmers by supplying seeds and agricultural supplies to sow new crops.

Your support powers our work in Sudan and in 40+ countries affected by conflict and disaster. So don’t wait: Make your early Giving Tuesday gift right away and send urgently needed support to families facing crises around the world.

With gratitude,

The Mercy Corps team
