1) Who Ya Gonna Call? Waste Busters

Twice in one day, your faithful Hotline editors Steve Moore and Phil Kerpen are called out by DOGE chairmen Elon and Vivek for spotlighting government waste.

[link removed]

Then this post from Vivek pointing out that downsizing federal regulatory agencies does much more than just save money on salaries. It also spares American businesses the cost of expensive and job-destroying red tape those bureaucrats would have created:

Together these posts have more than nine million views - which is almost as many people as read the HOTLINE every day!

2) Calamitous California

We are still rolling on the ground in laughter at this headline:

[link removed]
[link removed]

California is losing more businesses, more millionaires, and more jobs than any other state (with the possible exception of New York) and yet the pols in Sacramento can't figure out what to do. What's the old saying: they are so smart they can't tell the difference between a horse and a cow.

We can think of three things Gavin Newsom could do overnight that would make California the Golden State great again: 1) adopt a flat rate 5% income tax; 2) make California a right-to-work state; and 3) put violent criminals in jail.

None of these are to be found in Gavin Newsom's California Comeback Plan.

What is for sure is that no state needs a comeback plan more than once-mighty California.

3) Climate Change Conference Collapse

Meanwhile, on the other side of the planet, the 29th(!) climate change conference in Baku ended with charges of "betrayal," "despair" and "disappointment."

[link removed]
[link removed]

Why the glum faces? Because the shakedown artists from the forever "developing countries" wanted $1 trillion a year in bribe payments, and the rich countries "only" pledged $300 billion ([link removed]) .

The climate change zealots are about to be hit with a cold shower reality. When Trump takes charge in a few weeks, the U.S. is unlikely to fork over a single penny to these con artists.

4) Why New York City Is Unaffordable

New York City has a full-fledged lodging crisis affecting the 65 million people who visit it every year for business or tourism. And, yes, it's caused by the government.

[link removed]

The average price of a hotel room in New York City in September climbed to $417, the highest monthly rate ever recorded in the city. A king room on a Friday night this month at the St. Regis New York costs $1,854.

Such nose-bleed prices for what is often the equivalent of a broom closet didn't used to be normal. What gives?

There are many reasons. This summer, one out of nine hotel rooms in the city were set aside for undocumented migrants.

New York has drastically restricted short-term Airbnb listings. More than 92 percent of Airbnb's local listings were removed to comply with new regulations. At the same time, the city has closed 55 affordable youth hostels.

A new law is about to take effect that would ban most non-unionized hotels from contracting out tasks like housekeeping and security. The ostensible reason is to close down marginal hotels which have high rates of crime. This law will "make New York City the worst hotel market in the country," says the American Hotel and Lodging Association.

Tourism is a major part of the Big Apple economy and now the pols are killing it. What comes next? Another federal bailout? Drop dead!

5) The Left FINALLY admits it: The Trump Lawsuits Were All Politics

A noted Yale Law professor is admitting the quiet part out loud - that the "lawfare" indictments of Donald Trump were purely political and backfired – in of all places The New York Times.

We'd like to think the sorry politicization of differences will be curbed going forward by such realizations, but Trump Derangement Syndrome is still virulent enough that the targets will now shift to his appointees.
