It wasn’t until I was 36 that I found the courage to break free from the life I had known and start over. Even though it meant losing relationships with friends and family who remained involved, I had to leave for my own emotional health and for my son's sake.
As a single mother, I faced enormous challenges, including raising a child with a learning disability. Yet, I was determined to create a better life for my family. Returning to school in my 40s to pursue a diploma in marketing was one of the hardest, but most rewarding, decisions I’ve ever made. This award not only helped me afford tuition, but it also gave me the belief that my dreams were worth pursuing.
With the education I gained, I’ve been able to advance my career and provide financial stability for my family. Today, I work as a content manager for Best Access Doors, and I take immense pride in the example I’m setting for my children—that no matter the obstacles, it’s never too late to pursue your dreams.
When I shared with Best Access Doors how the Live Your Dream Awards changed my life, they were so moved that they decided to offer a matching gift for Giving Tuesday! That means your gift will go twice as far, helping more women like me find the courage and support to change their lives.
