Dear John,
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, all of us at Family Research Council want to express our immense gratitude -- both for the blessings God has shown us and for faithful partners like you.
President George Washington, in his first national Thanksgiving proclamation, urged Americans to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God and to offer sincere and humble thanks for His blessings. This Thanksgiving, let us follow his example by approaching our family gatherings with hearts full of gratitude to the Lord for who He is and the great things He has done.
At FRC, we are committed to ensuring that the light of liberty remains bright for generations to come, and that starts with preserving America's spiritual foundations. The Ten Commandments were, and are, a key influence on the values that shaped America and our legal system. We must never forget how vitally important they are for us today.
David Barton joined us at this year's Pray Vote Stand Summit Gala in October and shared with us the immense extent to which our Republic was founded on biblical principles. "Far and away, the most cited source [by our Founding Fathers] was the Bible... so they, themselves, cite the Bible time after time after time," he noted.
Through events like our Pray Vote Stand Summit and our communication channels, such as our award-winning broadcast, Washington Watch, our daily online news and commentary, The Washington Stand, and our Outstanding podcast, we are educating believers across the country about our nation's biblical founding so they can fight to preserve America for future generations.
Your generous gift will help us continue educating believers and fighting for the truth of America's spiritual foundations.
PARTNER WITH FRC
This year, we also find ourselves in a season of blessing, as millions of Americans turned out to protect the sacred fire of liberty in the recent election. But as President Ronald Reagan reminded us, "Freedom is never more than a generation away from extinction."
One of the ways we protect that fire is by ensuring our children understand the foundations of our freedom -- foundations that are built on biblical truth, including the Ten Commandments. That's why Family Research Council is fighting to put the Ten Commandments back into classrooms across America.
Louisiana and Oklahoma understand just how vital the Ten Commandments are. These states have taken courageous steps to ensure that the Ten Commandments are present in classrooms, helping the next generation understand the values that undergird our freedoms.
Oklahoma's state school superintendent, Ryan Walters, joined me on Washington Watch two weeks ago to discuss the issue. "[W]e're going to make sure that our kids understand American exceptionalism and the Judeo-Christian values that...played such a major role in this country's history." He also agreed with me that it is impossible to be culturally literate and not have some understanding of the Bible.
Unfortunately, U.S. District Judge John deGravelles ruled to block the implementation of the Louisiana law on the grounds that it was "unconstitutional on its face." Liz Murrill, the attorney general of Louisiana, told me on Washington Watch two weeks ago that "the law on its face is, in fact, constitutional. It tracks Supreme Court precedent." What happens with this legal battle could set the precedent for all laws of this kind going forward.
The Left may try to erase these truths, but we at FRC are committed to protecting our Christian heritage.
PROTECT FREEDOM WITH FRC
In this season of gratitude, will you consider giving a gift to FRC to help us carry this mission forward? Your gift will help us ensure that our children are educated about America's spiritual foundations so they can continue preserving our nation into the future.
When we gather around our tables this week, let us lift our hearts in prayer, giving thanks for the abundant blessings God has bestowed upon us. May we be ever mindful of His grace and provision, and may we seek His guidance as we strive to protect the freedoms He has given us.
As Psalm 107:1 says, "Oh give thanks to the Lord, for he is good, for his steadfast love endures forever!"
Thank you for your enduring support and partnership as we continue the fight to preserve faith, family, and freedom in our great nation.
As we reflect on the blessings that God has shown us this year, let us continue praying for our leaders, our communities, and each other. May we be a beacon of hope and light in a world that desperately needs the truth of God's Word.
May God bless you and your family this Thanksgiving season.
