Hi John,

On Jan. 6, 2021, President Trump held an auction for oil leases in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The cost for destroying pristine wilderness, habitat for endangered species and one of the planet's most invaluable landscapes? Only $25 an acre.

Make no mistake: Trump and his Big Oil allies have the refuge in their sights again.

Please help us mount a strong defense against Trump's destruction by making a gift to the Future for the Wild Fund today. All gifts through Dec. 31 will be matched.

As Trump rounds out his Cabinet picks and choices to lead federal agencies, it's clear that Project 2025 is his guiding light.

And one of the top priorities of Project 2025 is to expand drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, Arctic Ocean and the Western Arctic Reserve.

In addition to the 2021 lease sale, the 2017 Tax Act passed under Trump 1.0 mandates a second auction for oil leases in the refuge by the end of this year. While the required auction will take place under Biden, Trump would oversee any subsequent permitting, exploration and development.

Trump set up his 2021 auction of the refuge at a record pace and without waiting for public input. He thought he could reward his Big Oil backers just days before leaving office.

We're certain he'll try and reward them again. He promised as much on the campaign trail, and on this matter at least, you can take him at his word.

If he opens the refuge to oil drilling and exploration, polar bear cubs could be terrorized by massive seismic vehicles or from drilling rigs near their dens.

The Arctic isn't Trump's to sell to the highest bidder. This majestic landscape belongs to the American people — and needs to be protected to avoid worsening the extinction and climate crises.

The Center has been working for decades to keep Big Oil out of the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. We can and must protect this wilderness, home to polar bears, caribou and Arctic foxes.

We're ramping up our team for the many tough battles ahead. We need to be prepared on day one, because that's when attacks on the wild will begin.

We'll be ready, but we need you with us.
