“Toby Rice, he is a bulldog."
That is what the president and CEO of EQT's former baseball coach said about him. Today, Rice has become one of the most influential fossil fuel executives in America ([link removed]) .
He is the region’s foremost public advocate for the gas extracted from the Marcellus Shale, leveraging his position at EQT to sway politicians and pursue policy to build what he calls a “Shalennial” vision of American energy. Donald Trump’s return to the White House and Republican control of Congress put that vision ever closer to reality.
This is the latest story in PublicSource's series, EQT's Gas Play ([link removed]) , supported by the Pulitzer Center.
Also, photojournalism intern Anastasia Busby captured a movie event hosted by PGH SK8, a roller skating community group, as the group's leaders shared their hopes for opening a roller rink in Homewood ([link removed]) .
We will not be sending a Thursday newsletter since the PublicSource staff is off for Thanksgiving. Have a safe and restful holiday and expect us to be back in your inbox on Saturday morning!
