This is going to be one of the longer emails I send you, so I would greatly appreciate it if you could take a moment to read it over.

I want to outline below how my team and I intend to win this battleground district in 2020 -- as one of the few Democrats who won in a district Donald Trump carried in 2016, preparation is key.

That's why I'm humbly asking if you will make a donation toward my team's upcoming mid-quarter deadline: We're currently behind and need to bring in $7,000 to reach our goal → [link removed]

Step One: Organize (Virtually) Throughout the Entire District

It's no secret that outside groups will spend millions of dollars here in Michigan's 11th Congressional District to try and defeat me -- the National Republican Congressional Committee went up with attack ads against me before I could even sponsor my first piece of legislation. In 2019, they spent $900,000 against me.

Our opposition is getting to work, but so are we -- my team is holding virtual events and contacting voters in every corner of the district. Your donations allow us to run a successful digital organizing operation.

Step Two: Stand Up To Special Interests and Put People First

I am proud to stand up to the gun lobby, predatory student loan companies, and big pharma giants that continue to increase the price of life-saving medications.

That's the only way we're going to keep our communities safe, ensure that every American can access a quality education, and help the millions of Americans who struggle with rising healthcare costs.

But that also means these groups will come to the aid of my opponent who will push their agenda. This campaign has always been powered by supporters like you, not special interests who want to push an agenda that enriches their coffers.

Step Three: Focus On The Issues That Matter

Part of the reason I was able to persuade swing voters in a district Trump carried was by focusing on the issues that matter.

For some, that's big picture issues like addressing climate change or finding ways to support small businesses and manufacturers here at home. For others, it's the issues that don't get so much attention -- like helping municipal recycling programs or increasing funding for STEM programs geared toward young students. Both are incredibly important and I make it a priority to have these conversations, whether I'm talking to a Democrat or a Republican.

Outside groups are trying to distract from my work on the issues and to slander my record. That's why we have to send you emails like these, so my team can have the resources to respond and set the record straight -- on big issues and less-discussed issues alike.

I'm giving this campaign everything I've got -- But right now, my team is telling me we're falling behind on this major deadline. That's why I'm asking if you can rush in a donation, of whatever you can spare.

Sincerely,

Haley
