*Governor Gordon Appoints Ben Burningham Chancery Court Judge*

CHEYENNE, Wyo. – Governor Mark Gordon has appointed Ben Burningham to be Wyoming’s Chancery Court judge. A specialized court created by legislation signed by Governor Gordon in 2019, Wyoming’s Chancery Court provides a forum for streamlined resolution of commercial, business, and trust cases. Burningham will replace two Wyoming district court judges currently handling Chancery Court cases.

Burningham currently serves as Chief Legal Officer and Director of Wyoming’s Chancery Court. From 2015-2021, he served as Chief of the Consumer Protection & Antitrust Unit for the Wyoming Attorney General’s Office. Burningham previously worked as an attorney in private practice for Kellogg, Hansen, Todd, Figel & Frederick, P.L.L.C. He received his Bachelor’s degree from Southern Virginia University and his Juris Doctorate with honors from The George Washington University.

“Once again, this was a difficult decision, however Ben’s experience with standing up the Chancery Court, along with his thoughtful analysis of legal issues and his extensive experience handling complex civil litigation will serve him well as Wyoming’s Chancery Court  judge,” Governor Gordon said.

“I am honored to have the trust of Governor Gordon and the Judicial Nominating Commission,” Burningham said.  “I firmly believe in the Chancery Court’s promise to enhance Wyoming’s business and trust communities by providing consistent, predictable, and cost-effective resolution of disputes.”

The appointment is effective January 1, 2025.
