Hi john,

It's been three weeks since the election, and I, like I imagine most of you, have been reflecting on our path forward. So I wanted to share some of my thoughts.

In the days after the election, I needed a little time to unplug. My go-to was to watch the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, extended edition. Our chocolate lab Moose kept me company, Archie cooked me good food, and our grandchildren got me back on my feet.

But now it's back to work.

There are no easy answers to the complicated question of why we lost this election. We organized and fought hard to elect our great candidates — people we knew would work to improve the lives of Americans in red states, blue states, and all the states in between. That started with the top of the ticket, with our excellent candidates Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. I thought they were going to win, like a lot of you, and their loss was hard to take. I will deeply miss working with my friends Sens. Jon Tester, Sherrod Brown, and Bob Casey, all champions for working people and their states. Not having them in the Senate is a big loss.

At the same time, most of our Senate candidates won tough races — in Nevada, Wisconsin, Arizona, and Michigan. I’m excited to welcome back Tammy Baldwin, Jacky Rosen, and of course my friend and colleague Amy Klobuchar. I’m also excited to welcome to the Senate new colleagues like Adam Schiff of California, Ruben Gallego of Arizona, Elissa Slotkin of Michigan, Lisa Blunt Rochester of Delaware, Andy Kim of New Jersey, and Angela Alsobrooks of Maryland. I am so proud of this group of grassroots supporters who helped get these candidates over the finish line. Thank you so much.

In moments like this, all we can do is move forward. We’ve faced challenges before and persevered. So onward we go, to defend the values we stand for. And as I always have, I will work with anyone who wants to work with me to move Minnesota and our country forward. This seat is on the ballot in 2026, along with my colleagues in Georgia, New Hampshire, Virginia, and more. And we have to fight like hell to protect them and take back the Senate majority.

We can do it. I know we can.

It will take hard work and grassroots energy. But we’ve won tough races before, and I know we can do it again. john, I’m ready to move forward and turn this moment into a new commitment and action for progress.

Onwards,
Tina
