Friends --
Team Warner hopes that you and your loved ones are staying safe and healthy. We are committed to sending weekly updates to keep folks around the Commonwealth up to date with what Mark Warner is working on in the Senate to get Virginians the help they need during this challenging time.
Here's just some of what Sen. Warner is working on this week:
-- Mark and Tim Kaine joined 40 of their Senate colleagues to introduce the Emergency Educational Connections Act, which would ensure that all students have reliable internet access, regardless of their ZIP code. This bill would help schools and libraries afford connectivity resources to support students and teachers during this period of distance learning.

-- Mark is working with Sen. Lamar Alexander and a bipartisan group of senators to support rural hospitals that are struggling during the pandemic. Their proposed legislation, the Fair Medicare Hospitals Repayments Act would ensure that rural hospitals are reimbursed for their services by the federal government and provide help to at least 14 hospitals in Virginia.

-- Mark co-sponsored Sen. Harris's VoteSafe Act, which would expand early voting and vote-by-mail options nationwide. Virginia already has expanded voting access, and Mark is committed to making sure that every American has the right to safely cast their ballot in November.

-- Mark is working on a bill to protect miners during the coronavirus pandemic with the support of Senate colleagues on both sides of the aisle. Their bill, the COVID-19 Mine Worker Protection Act, would require additional health and safety precautions for miners who may have been exposed to the virus, and includes protection from retaliation for miners reporting infection control issues.

-- Mark co-sponsored the Public Health Emergency Privacy Act, which aims to protect the private health data of consumers during efforts to slow and stop the spread of coronavirus. The bill focuses on digital contact tracing technology, one tactic used to monitor the spread of this virus.

-- Mark continues to advocate for his Paycheck Security Act, which would protect paychecks and access to health care for workers who have been laid off or furloughed during this pandemic.
