Americares president and CEO, Christine Squires, traveled to western North Carolina to meet with local health partners and learn more about their needs – both mental and physical – amid the ongoing recovery from Hurricane Helene. For many staff, it was the first time they felt okay sharing their grief. 5. Hurricane Response Update: $1 Million in Emergency Funding

Thanks to the generosity of donors, Americares has awarded over $1 million in emergency funding to restore health care services in five states in the aftermath of Hurricanes Helene and Milton. Twenty-eight local health clinics providing free or low-cost care are receiving grants to keep their doors open, repair storm damage, replace essential medicines and equipment and conduct outreach to underserved communities.
